Locate High School Classmates

Is it mentally healthy to obess over your high school classmates? I graduated 6 years ago!?

For some reason, I cannot get over high school. I was a shy person from 9th to 11th Grade. Then, in 12th grade I broke out of my shell and made a lot of friends. But, after graduation hardly any of friends talked to me anymore. I signed up a myspace page last year, got in touch with an old friend, hung out and than never talked to me. Also, I tried to add one person to my friends list and she never replied. I know they moved on and I am stuck in the past. Why should I care?? Do you think I have a problem? Serious answers only!

  1. Well, obsessing over anything isn't really healthy to do. The thing is that, whats happened in your case, is actually fairly common. Many people have great friends from high school, and rarely do you stay in contact with them, as generally its usually your college friends that you end up becoming closer with.
  2. missing them is normal...but unless you're a stlaker...I'd lay off.
  3. It's because people change so much after high school. All that stuff about "friends till the end" and faithfulness to the school etc...just isn't how it really is. They consider themselves "adults" now...and you probably remind them of their adolescence Even family members can be this way. I've tried to contact high school friends too. They email me a couple of times...then quit. They've built new lives. None of us are how we were in high school. We just wish we were. It's the naustalgia that we hang onto.
  4. it's natural to miss them. but when the time comes that you already graduated and go in different ways, it's time to move on. time to meet new friends and time to experience new things within your environment.
  5. yoU sound like my sister.. she went through this phase where she acted like she was still in high school and still wanted her old friends and that kind of life with all the freedom to do whatever you want...you know But it was sad you know? to see her like all nostalgic ALL the time its like"thats over. ..and now all you have are your MEMORIES" - I mean, high school is an experience, like anything else, you take something from it and move on.. Maybe in your case its because things started to get good for you-more funner) and then * you graduated and..*poof I dont know, but I told my sister to get over it and stay in the NOW
